Floor types range from stone to wood and tiles, although many people also like to cover the floor entirely or partly with a carpet. A rug or carpet will create a surface that is deliciously soft for the feet during the colder months. In cooler climates, it`s a great idea to have a soft furnishing to add some extra comfort. However, wood can be fabulously elegant and classy alongside the right furniture. If you don`t mind a little polishing every now and then, a high quality wooden floor could be perfect in your living room. This depends mainly upon the mood that you want to create within your living room. However, for people who may be moving home in the future or who often experiment with interior design changes, a minimalist style living room may be ideal. That way, it will be simple to rearrange your living room when the time comes. For families, nothing is quite as welcoming and relaxing as a well furnished and spacious classic living room, while couples and young people may adore modernist living room designs for entertaining their friends.
The floor takes up a significant amount of square footage and thus is one of the most high impact spaces in your living room. Ue one flooring material, such as wood or carpet, throughout your living room and adjoining rooms to visually expand the space and create flow with your design. In that same vein, avoid interrupting the eye with contrasting floor coverings. Use sofas and cabinets with legs, so the floor fades under the furniture rather than stopping suddenly at a wall of wood or fabric.
We see everyday the work of some of the most brilliant minds, designers and architects, that create out of nothing impressive living spaces and yet, we rarely think about their homes and how do they look like. So here we are, “sneaking” inside the house of a designer, Susan Drover from SAM Design and exploring her “imaginarium”.
